DAILY 5 ROTATIONS
Read to SelfStudents will work on reading to them self using reading strategies that have been focused on in class (predictions, visualizations, connections, etc...) Students have a choice to read their library book and work towards meeting their AR goal that is on their independent reading level, or choosing from selected current event articles on the site Tween Tribune. These articles are also adjusted to meet their Lexile level.

Computer / Skill workStudents will work on assigned skill on the computer using programs such as Classworks, Moby Max, or Schoology. These skills will vary throughout the year depending on the focus of study.

Teacher TimeThis is the time that students will meet with me to discuss the novel we are reading or work on identifying certain skills within the reading. Students share the outcome of their "job" for the week.

BOOK STUDY Work on Writing &
Word Work
Students complete a job that they have chosen for the week. These jobs include the "Word Wizard", "Passage Picker", "Discussion Director", and the "Character Sketcher". Students take turns with the jobs throughout the novel study and should be familiar with what the expectations are for each. Students will have "Choice Boards" on certain books to choose from extension activities that they wish to complete in order to reflect on different topics related to their book.

Work on Writing: Students use this time to respond in writing to prompts related to their readings. These may be in the form of discussions on Schoology, or in paragraph format in their interactive notebooks.
Work with Words: Students use this time to focus on working with words in a variety of ways. There are centers set up that students choose in order to work on different types of word skills (prefixes, suffixes, root words, spelling, meanings, etc...) These may be on Schoology, Quizlet, Versatiles and more! |
